Thorough and professional land clearing services
As a residential or commercial property owner, there’ll come a time when you need to think about having a tree removed, or even having a large amount of vegetation cleared. Generally, land clearing can be a simple process of identifying the material to be removed and arranging access, however it can become more challenging if the property has uneven levels, is on a steep slope or where access is narrow or hard to navigate.
In these cases, you need to be able to rely on experienced Arborists who have years of experience overcoming problems on site, and who have the right equipment to be able to get the job done quickly. Stark Tree Services maintains a large number of the latest land clearing equipment that can handle all types of projects, big and small. We also offer a wide range of Arborist services, including:
- Regular property maintenance
- Tree pruning and branch lopping
- Tree stump removal and grinding
- Power line clearing
If you are considering having one or more trees and shrubs removed on your property, we also offer a mulching service which will turn any leaf litter and waste into wood and bark chips, highly suitable for use as mulch for your landscaping projects. This is an environmentally responsible way to ‘recycle’ the natural assets you may have on your property, while still ensuring that the procedure is efficient and cost-effective.
Land clearing tips from the experts
There are many things that you’ll need to take into account when looking at having part or all of your property cleared. Obviously your budget and timeframe will factor in any decision you make about who to choose to provide this service, however there are other issues you’ll have to consider such as the amount of vegetation you might be able to have cleared, getting council approval and the best way to prepare the site.
Regulations, permits and bushfire protection
The removal and pruning of trees is generally governed by the relevant regulations in your local council area, so the first step to looking at having your property cleared is to contact the council and find out:
- Whether you will need a tree removal or pruning permit. This will be dependent on the area you live in, the zoning laws, the type and size of the tree or trees or be removed. There may be a range of other factors in applying for a permit including whether the vegetation in question is considered to pose a hazard to property or even endangering people living and working in the area
- If you live in certain areas within the Melbourne region, you may be in a bushfire prone location. Special exemptions apply to these areas, including what’s known as the ‘10/50 rule’ and the ‘10/30 rule’. These rules allow property owners to clear all vegetation (including trees) on their land, within 10 metres of the main building, and any vegetation (excluding trees) within 50 and 30 metres respectively for bushfire protection purposes. You should note that these rules apply to buildings built or approved before September 2009. Permits will still be required for newer buildings.
Stark Tree Services can help you navigate the planning permit process, as well as provide you with all the information you need to know about local regulations and the right way to go about having trees and other vegetation removed from your property.
Preparing the site
Preparing your property for land clearing is an important step to ensuring the process goes quickly and smoothly. Tree removal experts would suggest ensuring that any rubbish not related to the clearing of vegetation is removed. They also suggest that you ensure the access way is cleared as much as possible, especially if large machinery and equipment will need to be used on the site.
Using other Arborist services
Unless you’re getting regular property maintenance conducted, it’s likely that you will have other jobs you may need to have done around the property at the same time as having part of the land cleared. You may have tree stumps that need to be removed or ground down, other trees or shrubs pruned or even have someone clear excess tree branches that have grown too close to power lines. Experts recommend that you have it all done at the same time – and by the same company if possible – because this will save you time and money in the long run.
Our Arborists can help you with a range of other services that can be added or ‘back ended’ onto a land clearing project. Just call us for a free, no obligation quote today.
